“I was feeling suck in finding a sense of direction. To be honest, working in audit was what I went into after school, but found the work under-stimulating. Casey helped me find a new path in Financial Analysis that was much more aligned with my interests and skills."
"Gain a competitive edge in your accounting career with expert coaching tailored specifically for CPAs."

Get ready... it's story telling time...

If you're an accountant or CPA who is wanting to build a meaningful and impactful career... you are not alone.

The steps seemed so simple.

     1. Get good grades in high school and post-secondary

     2. Land an articling role

     3. Finish your CPA

     4. Upgrade your job, progress in your career, and earn more money

     5. Live a happy life

At least that's what we thought we wanted…

But somehow, when we get to the finish line of completing the CPA and working in the field, we feel even more lost in our direction. We thought our hard work would be done and we could coast from here… but we hardly enjoy long work hours and we're always feeling stressed and overworked.

But somehow this CPA journey hasn't been all that we though it would be. We're supposed to be making more money, having a bigger impact, and leading strategic decision making, but we are having to sacrifice our personal time and energy to do so.

"Is working in accounting and finance this really sustainable?"

Finishing the CPA is just the beginning of your career.

It's been over a year since I have been feeling unmotivated, unfulfilled, and stressed about the future of my career. And I am still feeling stuck in my role. I'm not afraid to work hard, but I just don't know where to go next.

How can I possibly have a career in accounting and finance where I don't have to deal with stress, rigid deadlines, and seemingly unrealistic expectations from managers?

But, I’ve been doing everything they told me to do, and it's just not working.

And I see all the other accountants around me going through their day to day lives without a hint of excitement and enthusiasm. I don't want to settle for a job that doesn't excite and motivate me.

Has anyone found a way to love their work in accounting? Or at least find passions outside of work?

I know I’m skilled and a hard worker! I know people need me! But I feel like I'm spinning my wheels and going in circles, and here we go again, another tax season...

And all the roles out there all seem like the same thing.

... I just don’t want to put my CPA to waste.

I have so much potential to have a bigger impact outside of my job description. I don't want to do repetitive tasks anymore. I want to add more value and solve real problems.

But even if I did, I wouldn't get rewarded for it. It's just so hard to find a job or employer that shares my values. I want to find something that excites me and will fuel my zest for life.

But I'm stuck because work is so demanding and I barely have time to myself and my relationships

There is always so much to do.

What if I make the wrong move?

Is this what the rest of my career will be like?

I can't take this any longer. It would crush my soul.

… I just don’t know if I keep this up.

*****

Is this track playing on repeat in your head? If this is your internal dialogue…

I get it. I've been there.

Thousands of dollars invested into education, a professional designation, a very specific skillset, and an uncertainty in how I can use my strengths and experience to grow in my career. I feel like a cog an a wheel. I feel replaceable.

I put in countless hours to develop in the accounting profession, just to be considering if it was the right decision for me.

Did I get the most of the experience?

I am not cut out to be an accountant?

Is my experience isolated to my role? OR is the entire industry going to be this way?

I felt stuck and unsure about my next move.

I knew I could do more, but I didn't have any guidance in my direction. I was scared to ask for help from my managers because I feared it would ruin my chances for progression.

But ONE conversation with a mentor changed everything…

He said, Casey, what is it that you really want to be doing with your career? What is going to inspire you to have a bigger impact? What is it that you can't get off of your mind? Because talking about it isn't going to get you anywhere. You need to go out and take action towards your goals. No one else is going to do that for you."

That was the moment everything changed. I didn't know exactly what I wanted, I was eager and curious to discover it!.

I committed to myself. I accepted that I am worthy of more. I learned to respect myself. I started to carefully pay attention to my thoughts, feelings, and desires. I had to get out of my own way.

Instead of focusing on what I didn't have, I focused on what I do have. My vision, strengths, network, skills, experiences, interests, values, and unique personality.

I was fueled to ignite my passion and believed that nothing could get in my way. Through brutally honest self-reflection and receiving help from coaches, mentors, teachers, and friends, I learned that I had what it took to create value for others and build a meaningful career.

I defined my purpose to help others lead their lives to have even bigger impacts.

I spent my spare time volunteering, mentoring, coaching, and public speaking. I didn't ever think that I would be helping others as a job. I didn't think it was possible, until I came across coaching.

I started networking with business coaches, life coaches, health coaches, and even coach trainers. There was an entire ecosystem of professionals that have built successful careers by helping others grow and learn.

I surrounded myself with positive influence and support.

This was it!

I took steps to learn how I could become a coach and enrolled in further education. This was scary. I didn't like the idea of leaving my CPA behind, but I knew that this direction would better serve me.

At least I would have a CPA to fall back on in the case I needed a Plan B.

Having a purpose does 3 beautiful things for you and your career:

  1. Clarity in your direction brings more reason to pave and create your own path

  2. When you share your purpose, others will help you work towards it

  3. It is internally motivating even when times get hard. You'll find a way to fulfill it.

Starting to explore your purpose is the hardest part… and I had found mine!

Since following into my purpose and personal journey, I have founds ways in my career to keep me motivated. As an auditor, I focused on training and coaching my staff. I ran social committees and events to bring people together. I started a mental health resource group to support individuals who are interested in mental wellbeing. I shared vulnerable stories to share my authenticity with others. I moved from a senior accounting role to a performance management role and helped develop and coach over 200 staff.

I trusted my intention to help people as an accountant, as a performance manager, and now, as an entrepreneur.

I didn't need to have a new job right away. What I needed was to find a sense of motivation and drive towards improving myself personally and professionally. The reward of following my purpose were the opportunities to better serve others in new capacities.

I learned to embrace the present moment and make the most of what I had in front of me.

Now my business is taking off, expanding to serve clients across Canada, the US, and the UK.

And as the business grew so did my impact. I help accountants of all backgrounds find clarity in their lives and careers. More importantly, I help give a voice to those who typically are not heard.

My clients come diverse backgrounds. I support individuals with mental health challenges and disability, minority ethnic and cultural groups, and the LGBTQ+ community.

I finally felt like I was living my purpose. Helping people lead and improve their lives and I was have a blast doing it. I had found my calling. I had found peace with myself and my career.

I am exactly where I need to be.

I'm not here to convince you to become a coach, but instead I am here to open up your eyes to the opportunities ahead when you begin to pursue something meaningful to you.

I've seen and helped CPAs use their skills to become entrepreneurs, business executives, teachers, marketers, musicians, politicians, computer engineers, nurses, lawyers, police, and many more.

Why limit yourself to your job title and profession? You are much more than that!

But I had learned 1 important thing…

If I had followed what the other accountants were doing, I’d get the same results they were getting… high stress jobs, low satisfaction and fulfillment, and feeling little impact. It was so obvious. But I just couldn’t see it then.

THAT'S why 85% of accountants say they feel stress throughout the year.

But I refuse to let that be the story moving forward…

Which is why I built CAREER REDEFINED - the full system to help you advance in your career without burning out.

It's the same process that helped me fuel my passion in coaching and has helped dozens of accountants build meaningful and impactful careers.

I got tired of seeing good accountants stray along a path of unfulfillment, dissatisfaction and burnout.

CAREER REDEFINED is not the “silver bullet” career building tactic of the month that only works for 2% of people. It isn’t some band-aid solution that only covers part of what's needed and you don’t have to sacrifice your energy to follow it.

Its the full recipe to help accountants:

  • Build capacity and regain energy to make smart decisions

  • Define your own version of success and ideal career path

  • Design a personalized roadmap to become the person and professional you want to be

  • Have an impact

... all while having less stress and more fulfillment

The principles aren’t new. They’ve been honed and refined by the best business leaders in the world for decades, but…

The way we implement them is specifically designed to help accountants build meaningful and impactful careers, in the modern economy.

The system works... but it doesn’t work for everyone. You must already:

      1. Be ready and willing to take action to improve your career and life

      2. Be open to feedback, failure, and coaching

      3. Be fully committed to making a positive impact

But if that's you then coaching might be a good fit for you.

And if you want to see if you’d be a good fit, I want to offer you a free Career Strategy Call.

On the call we would dig into where your career is at currently, what you have tried (or haven’t), what's working and what's not, and get clarity around what you would need to focus on to take your career and life to the next level.
